Notes About Skate Blades
Skate blades are both fragile and dangerous. It is important that skate blades be sharpened and cared for properly in order for your skater to perform at their best. Never walk or stand on hard surfaces (concrete, wood, stone, metal, etc) without skate guards on your blades. Always keep skate blades clean and dry so that they do not rust.
Often parents/players develop a loyalty to places that do a good job sharpening skates. For new parents, a couple popular places for MHA families is at Morgantown Ice Arena or at Pure Hockey in Canonsburg, PA. Most rinks in the Pittsburgh area have pro shops that offer sharpening, so parents often get skates sharpened while traveling for games/tournaments.
